Tips

Filter a MIDI file before replaying it
Quite often, a midi file has multiple channels, where - typically - each channel has a different instrument. Usually the channels have parallel musical events. Consequently, if all these events are animated on the piano keys, the user may get overwhelmed and confused by the many keys being pressed and released at the same time. This would defeat the purpose of the key-animation feature.

The user can take better advantage of the key animation feature by selecting fewer channels for animation. And because Mazzika provides separate filtering of sound and animation, the user can still listen to more channels than animated.

Assign Maqam Hot Keys
To switch quickly from one maqam to another while playing music using the keyboard, assign maqam hot keys. This allows you to switch to a maqam by hitting a single function key in the keyboard.

Install a Sound Card
Although Mazzika works fine with an on-motherboard audio controller, the sound and the timing will be much better if there is a sound card. Even the very cheapest sound card will perform better than the on-motherboard audio controller.
